The DTE team spoke to more than 100 students from various engineering, quantity surveying, project management and architectural technology courses. They gave the students an insight into the work done at DTE and explained how the students could get started in a timber engineering career.

They gave an overview of the history of both DTE and the Donaldson Group and shared information on the industry as a whole. The students were very pleased with the live demos of both a standard design scenario and an advanced design scenario. They were also impressed with the demo of an example project they will be delivering.

The team also answered several questions in a Q&A session and passed around samples of various products so the students could get a better understanding of what our experts work to design and manufacture everyday.

We also had some of the lecturers visit our Ilkeston site. This gave them an understanding of what we do and enabled them to teach the basics of timber engineering to their students more effectively.

The team hopes this lecture will be the start of many, with the aim to inspire the next generation to pursue timber engineering as a career.
